Dentophobia
(Fear of Dentist)

Dentaphobia is an intense fear of going to the dentist. It is at times associated with trypanophobia, or fear of needles. Although many people are apprehensive and uncomfortable with going to the dentist, most people are able to work around their mild level of discomfort. Those who suffer from Dentophobia experience a significant emotional and physiological reaction, the intensity of which often interferes with their ability to receive appropriate dental care. Avoidant behaviors are common and can lead to magnification of existing dental problems and the eventual necessity of even more complex dental procedures.
